We are seeking an experience, self-directed and highly motivated Lab Tech to join our Laboratory team at Rush University Medical Center!
Under supervision, the successful candidate for this position will perform general laboratory techniques. Responsibilities will include knowledge and facility with computer database management.
Processing and archiving tissue specimens according to protocol.
Retrieving specimens from the archives for relevant studies.
Database management, tracking tissue samples and test results in Microsoft Excel or Access format
The candidate would be expected to assist in troubleshooting experiments, assays or equipment. These duties will be performed in collaboration with the principal investigator.
Performance of literature searches to assist the director in his responsibilities.
The candidate may be required to perform small tasks for the principal investigator including but not limited to: photocopying, retrieval of specimens, transport of materials through the medical center, collating of materials for grants/manuscripts, organizing the laboratory.
Participation in departmental activities including journal clubs, workshops and seminars.
Maintenance of a detailed laboratory notebook, according to protocol.
Position Qualifications Include :
Candidate must have a B.S. or equivalent in biological science.
Must have some background knowledge of Laboratory and/or experience.
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a cooperative, interactive group setting.
Candidate must be self-driven and assertive in order to successfully perform the duties defined above.
Should have extensive computer skills including word processing, data management and digital imagery processing.
