Job Description Enhances product workflow by analyzing and developing logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory. Creates and reviews procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize cost.
The Material Coordinator shall coordinate and expedite the flow of Hazardous material (HM) between CONUS manufacturers/distributors to Tracy, CA, where it will be packaged and loaded on a commercial transport for trans-Pacific delivery to Okinawa, Japan IAW production and shipping schedules.
Reviews incoming material orders with the Okinawa 3PL Program Manager to determine anticipated quantities of HM required to be shipped overseas prior to material being physically delivered to Tracy. This will ensure that adequate space for the shipment is secured with the transportation managers.
Employee will be tasked with full accounting of all HM delivered based on procurement documents received. Should material received not be identical to type/quantity of HM on the purchase documents sent by the site (i.e. insufficient/excess material, incorrect material, or damaged/compromised/leaking containers), the Material Coordinator will be responsible for engaging the supplier/distributor to correct the error prior to departure of the transport ship.
If order ship time requirements prohibit the timely delivery of material to the Okinawa shipping port in Tracy, employee will work with corporate Procurement team to reconcile/rectify with the manufacturer/distributor. Employee will also be responsible for relaying to site personnel in Okinawa about any HM delivery shortages/issues to ensure pre-established contingency plans are initiated as needed.
Arranges with transportation department POCs for delivery to Okinawa customers. May compile report of quantity of HM received at Tracy, on hand inventory being prepared for shipment, along with HM that has left the port for delivery in Okinawa. May move or transport Hazardous material from one location to another, using hand truck or industrial truck. May compile perpetual delivery and inventory records in order to locate material in process of being shipped, using manual or computerized system. Candidate must be able to pass a background check.

Required Skills Preferred educational experience for position include Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience with managing/tracking of hazardous materials (HM) and expediting of material orders in partnership with procurement team members and vendors/distributors.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated background investigation prior to beginning work. Knowledge of Navy Hazardous Material Control and Management (HMC&M) and HM management software programs such as HMIRS, FedLOG, and other government logistics system is required. Demonstrated knowledge of HM warehousing, handling, and safety procedures is allowed. Must be able to liaison with on-site and off-site personnel in order to accurately forecast, anticipate, receive, reconcile, prepare, move and transport HM from physical receipt of material to final loading onto the transport vessel. Work is generally performed in a mix of office and warehouse environment, where there is minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or semi-hazardous working conditions. Travel may be required.

Department Our services in the Defense business unit support all branches of the U.S. military and the intelligence community.
