Leads and oversees compliance support to the organization through regulatory updates for federal and state regulation changes, training and policy development, and permitting, specifically as it relates to transportation issues. Works on development, implementation, standardization and management of Stericycle SCS, ESOL and Shred-It DOT compliance and fleet safety management system.Key Job Activities:Regulatory oversight: Lead and oversee all aspects of development, implementation, standardization (where appropriate) and manage DOT Safety (e.g. DQF, drug and alcohol testing, vehicle inspections, CSA, hours of service, permits, reporting, etc.)Training and Auditing: Update and develop existing training programs for the transportation function. Identify new training programs for Safety, Operations, and Sales/Customers. Manage transportation compliance and audit programs in accordance with best practices and DOT HMR, FMCSA, OSHA, and other regulatory agency requirements. Perform audits and observations and analyze trend. Communicate BMP.Regulatory Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert with regards to Federal and State FMCSA/DOT HMR regulatory compliance. Work with operation and other functional areas to implement and manage proactive approach. Keep up-to-date with new regulation changes for both federal and state regulations. Communicate necessary updates to all facets of the organization.Permitting and Tracking: Support company in Corporate regulatory filings, coordinate tracking of permits and corporate spreadsheets. Develop and maintain reporting systems to measure effectiveness of safety efforts, training and auditing. Develop benchmarking opportunities to develop BMPs and recommend improvements.Performs other related projects as requested by the VP Compliance
Education and Experience RequiredEducation equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree in safety management systems, transportation or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating the ability to understand and implement Policies and Procedures as they relate to Safety/Health and permitting of transportation. Master’s degree a plus.Five or more years of experience running safety projects or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of health, safety, and both federal and state DOT regulations.Demonstrates strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as business analytics, database management and reporting systems.CSP and CDS a plus.
